In this way, you can update the removable cushions for a chair or sofa by making new zipper covers.

This method is suitable for stitching new removable cushion covers for a sofa or chair. If the old covers are removed, they are easy to use as a template for new ones. If the old covers do not have a zipper and can not be removed, there are two options. You can flog pillows upholstery, use its details as templates and sew removable covers on them. The second option: leave the old covers in place, build patterns for new ones, focusing on the size of the pillows, sew new covers and put them on top.

Transform pillow: master class

Step 1

Spread the seams on the old case and use its details as templates (or build patterns based on the size of your pillows). If your pillows are of the same shape as in our example, for each cover you will need 2 identical rectangular parts and a strip for the side, equal in length to the perimeter of the pillow. The segment of the side part into which the zipper will be sewn must be cut separately, making it a little wider and cut along: between these halves the zipper is sewn. Do not forget the seam allowances.

Step 2

Sew the zipper first.Pin the zipper to one half of the part, as shown in the photo, lay the line. Repeat with the other side of the zipper.

Step 3

Now sew a piece of the side part with a zipper to the rest of the strip of the side part.

Step 4

Chip off the strip from one of the rectangular parts of the pillow, as shown in the photo, and sew the parts.

Step 5

Repeat with the second rectangular pillow part. It remains only to unscrew the cover and put it on the pillow.
