The winner of the Burda Fashion Start contest, Asya Davydova, spoke about the concept of her style and her creative goals for the near future.

Why did you decide to take part in the Burda Fashion Start contest?
Recently, I have not been able to devote time to creating collections, because all the time it takes to work on individual orders and private projects. And this was a kind of challenge to our own abilities, to make a capsule for 3 images in just 1 month, given that we received the materials a little more than 2 weeks before the finish.
What was the most difficult to work on the collection?
The task of the competition at the first stage was to draw sketches, whereas in ordinary life I can’t create collections based on the drawing. Much more important materials. Rather, after understanding future fabrics, you begin to tweet sketches. In this competition, the organizers took all the maximum possible costs for themselves, which is a rarity and a lot of respect! And provided us with fabrics. Personally, I ordered the materials on the Internet, on the website www.artfabric.ru and, of course, fell in love with the material, which had to be integrated into the sketches, and it took a lot of time.
When creating collections, what fabrics do you usually use?
I really like jacquards, shaped fabrics, silk organza and all kinds of technological materials. In priority, light tissue, in terms of weight, no matter how strange it sounds.When it comes to rolls and circulation of finished things, weight begins to play a big role!
What three words would you describe your style? Why?
Minimalism, architecture, technology. In my first education I am a technologist and designer, and already a higher education as a clothing designer. Therefore, I consider each future design from the point of view of the project, a form in which everything should be harmonious, practical and in place.
What are the fashion designers who influenced your work?
Raf Simons, from our Nina Donis, Vika Gazinskaya, Lilya Litkovskaya from Ukrainian. Very VERY cool and talented personalities! So actually there are quite a lot of them on my list of inspirers, but I remembered these people first of all.
What are the three most popular trends for the fall-winter season 2016/2017
I do not know. Probably oversize, velvet, plum blossom.

What, in your opinion, is lacking in Russian fashion today?

What is your most ambitious creative goal?
My task is to become a commercially successful and sought-after Russian designer in the next 3 years and to instill a taste in our people.
In the fashionable Geppener Studio, a large-scale photo shoot was held as part of a unique competition for young designers Burda Fashion Start. Each of the designers presented his capsule collection of three images.
