A-silhouette is considered the most versatile. Such dresses are suitable for almost everyone. A-silhouette hides imperfections and emphasizes the dignity of the figure. The model is ideal for every day and for special occasions.
Today I want to share my personal experience and talk about another pattern from Burda magazine. It will be a short A-line dress with sleeve sleeves from the March issue for 2010:

Many dresses do not exist
The first dress that I sewed on this pattern, as soon as the magazine went on sale, was from woolen knitwear. It was a coupon with a pattern on one edge. The canvas kept its shape, although it was not too dense and stretched only across the shared one. The location of the coupon dictated its conditions. And I didn’t cut the dress out of proportion. Oddly enough, this decision did not affect the material while wearing the dress. I thought that the dress could stretch out, lose its shape after washing. But no adverse conditions were reflected in this knitwear. But in any case, it is for this model that I would recommend using thick, but not thick knitted fabrics that hold their shape well if you decide to sew this model from knitwear.
Tunic dress
The next experience with this pattern was very close to the original model. I sewed a cotton gauze tunic with floral embroidery with cotton ribbons.
All seam allowances and cuts are processed together on the overlock. Bending of the bottom and sleeves 1.5 cm. The neckline is processed with an oblique inlay of silk cambric.
She wore a tunic with jeans, but most of all she took root in the role of a beach tunic. And it became, perhaps, the most favorite option of all the dresses that I sewed on this pattern.
The desire to try this pattern in other fabrics also led to the appearance of several more dresses in my wardrobe.
Woolen Boucle Dress
Soft, warm, plastic and slightly voluminous fabric in this pattern proved to be excellent. Sewed unlined. I do not really regret this "accessory" in dresses, but in this case there was no need for it, the fabric is not loose and the model has enough freedom to feel comfortable in the dress.
Seam allowances are overlocked and ironed. The hem of the hem and sleeves of the dress is 4 cm. The neckline is finished with a silk oblique trim.
Subsequently, the dress had to change the sleeves. Made long. But I did not like the result, and the dress was already slightly tired. And I remade it into a wonderful warm pullover, which I also wear with pleasure.
Seam allowances are processed together on the overlock. Bending of the bottom and sleeves of the pullover 4 cm. The neck is processed by a trimmed grinder.
Nightdress
The fourth instance is a nightgown of fine knitwear with an etched pattern. Knitted fabric is inextensible and its pattern was accepted with pleasure.
The nightdress is sewn on an overlock. Bending of the bottom and sleeves is done on a sewing machine. On the sleeves and at the bottom of the dress there is a decorative trim with narrow linen lace in the hem of the hem.
Silk dress
The latest version of this dress was sewn from crepe silk. I didn’t really like the result, because the lightness of the fabric, which does not keep its shape at all, completely hides the A-silhouette, and makes the sleeve sleeves invisible. But it is these details that are the highlight of the model. Unfortunately, the photo was not saved.
About the pattern: changes, adjustments, tips
✂ The pattern is successful, it will not cause difficulties in sewing, even for beginner needlewomen.
✂ Of the minuses, in my opinion, the armhole is slightly narrower, it can be made a little deeper due to allowances. But it is not critical, especially if you sew a dress made of elastic fabric.
✂ The neckline for the summer model is small. A neckline-droplet on the back is more like a decorative ornament.I refused him at all. And the neckline enlarged and deepened in all her dresses.
✂ I made only standard adjustments, in accordance with the features of the figure: I raised the tucks a little, shortened the shoulder line by 1 cm, so that the sleeve was in place.
✂ A model with a pronounced A-silhouette, to emphasize it, as well as to show the beauty of the sleeve sleeves, sew a dress made of fabrics that at least slightly keep their shape. For comfort, it is better to choose fabrics with a low elastane content.
✂ If you like mini and A-silhouette - this is a very successful pattern.
