Tadashi Shoji is known for her restrained and chic models at the same time. Perhaps it is precisely this difference in style that attracts universal attention to his work, not only in America, but throughout the world. No wonder his collection opened the last Fashion Week in New York.
In Russia, it is not too widely known, at least not like the Italian or French brands. Nevertheless, Tadashi Shoju chose the Russian arts and crafts as a source of inspiration for his new collection. The lace capes on his dresses resemble Vologda lace, and the combination of lace and velvet is the luxury of imperial palaces.The ornamental decoration of dresses from plain fabric is very similar to the filigree embroidery of the Russian North, and blue lace on a white background is similar to Gzhel painting.
But despite these historical parallels, Tadashi Shoju's dresses are incredibly modern: there are sophisticated vintage silhouettes, details of the early twentieth century, and bodice dresses with tight coquette on the hips, exploding with fluffy skirts and tutus in the style of rock and roll, and ultra-modern in this season, the silhouette of the "mermaid", and long sheath dresses, and American simplicity with its sophistication of the cut of trapezoidal silhouettes.
